I Ain’t Too Proud to Beg… for Jesus that is

So a friend and I were discussing over the weekend how we like to switch up secular lyrics with those of the word from Jesus.

I’m sitting in Starbucks getting some work done and I became inspired by a song that came on Pandora. “I Ain’t too Proud to Beg” by TLC.

Ok, I know your first thought is girrrrl… you were able to convert the lyrics of “I Ain’t too Proud to Beg” into words of light, love and encouragement from God?! I gotta finish read this!

beg

Well, let me share with you. As the song came on, I began to tap my feet to the beat, nod my head in rhythm and while a grand smile emerged, I began to type out my inspiration. I thought of my current season. The bible states “to every thing there is a season” Eccl. 3. Two specific versus from this chapter stuck out to me that reference my current season.

“A time to tear down and a time to build, as well as a time to be silent and a time to speak.” I can’t help but take the words of TLC and change them as a cry out to God, boldly stating “I ain’t to proud to beg for God’s direction as I rebuild. I ain’t to proud to beg while I speak up declaring the promises He has shared with me. I ain’t to proud to beg for what God called my own!.”

Can I get a yes and Amen?

beg logo

The definition of beg, is “to ask (someone) earnestly or humbly for something.”

I am earnestly and humbly asking God to strengthen me through the peaks and the valley. I humbly ask for Him to comfort me as my confidence is restored and boldly declare aloud those things He already promised me.

Told you this was going to be good. 🙂

The bible says “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” Matthew 7:7. I’m earnestly asking, seeking and knocking even in the midst of the storm, transition or simply stated “the world being the world.” Trust, I can find a message in just about anything due to the way my GODFIDENCE™ is set up. *BIG SMILE*

Godfidence_logo_web

Have you ever changed up the lyrics of a song from the secular world to fit into #TeamJesus? I would love to hear your experience.

If you haven’t experienced it yet, look for the messages soon to come. Trust, when you are tapped into His frequency, it will come in anything.

Be Inspired. Speak Life. Stay Confident!

Lemonade, Tea, Me & Bey

So,

Beyonce’ dropped yet another amazing visual album and the world stopped… then carried on. 🙂

b1.gif

Although I absolutely loved her transparency, ability to showcase she is as human as the rest of us and creativity, I am using this forum to share how you too, can turn the lemons in life into lemonade and proudly carry on!

Here are the top 3 lessons (yes there were more) I learned from Lemonade, were able to relate with and so can you:

  1. NO ONE IS EXEMPT TO EXPERIENCE THE TRIALS IN WHAT WE CALL LIFE! In the words of the one who was once my “husband in my head” and now painting clouds purple as he passed on to glory, Prince “Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to get through this thing called life.” Truth is, we ALL go through it. But only a few will choose to grow through it. Beyonce’ shared her trial and how she’s grown and you can too. Whatever that thing is whether it’s marital problems, infidelity, insecurities, childhood trauma, or even health scares, sweetheart, you are not the first nor will you be the last. Pick up your bed and walk free. Cry, become angry, scream, pout, question and do whatever you need to let it out, but most of all, be sure to KEEP MOVING FORWARD!
  2. DON’T ALLOW IT TO “INTERRUPT YOUR GRIND!” Simply stated, *ish happens. Keep it moving. Bey shared how distractions, even those considered to be your husband can interrupt the plans God has for you if you are not careful. Do things in His will and never lose sight of the end prize. I have to be transparent and share, I fell into this trap for almost a year and when I heard those words “interrupting my grinding” all I could do was jolt up from the lying down position I was in and say in my Kevin Hart voice “wait… I wasn’t ready!” But the truth is, I needed to hear that. NOW… it’s about what I will do with that boost of inspiration. Come on now ladies, get in formation and follow suit! Don’t let anyone or anything interrupt the plans He has for you. Know your purpose and never stray away from it. If you get coins along the way, that is just an added blessing 🙂
  3. FORGIVENESS, FREEDOM AND MOVING ON! When life hands you lemons, make the best lemonade, forgive those who’ve done you wrong, own your freedom and once again, keep it moving! Forgiveness is the key to it all. Many times, why we get stuck is because we forget to forgive. Forgive the one whose wrong you, forgive what has happened to you and forgive yourself for what you’ve done to you including the extended pity party you threw. Own your freedom and let NO ONE take it from you. From family to social media to being captive to un-forgiveness, take your freedom back! “Freedom, freedom, I can’t move! Freedom, cut me loose!”

#FabFridays- Sexiness, more than what you wear!

sexiness

Modest is the new sexy!

The bare-it-all is truly over-rated and although there is greatness in the woman who is comfortable in her own skin, there is equal greatness in those that can show sexiness without the need to bare it all.

Did you know there was such a thing? Let me share how to do that.

sexy

Sexy is shown though:

  1. The eyes – SMIZE!!! (Tyra-ism which means to smile with your eyes)smize1
  2. Smile on your face! A smile is so welcoming, warm, enchanting and yes even sexy at times. Keeping your lips exfoliated, soft and kissable along with your teeth properly cared for… get a brighter whiter smile ladies (and gents) and then add the right shade of lipstick and welcome sexy! Some top choices for lip colors are the right nude for you and red. A red lip is always sexy!

    3. The Hair – How you wear your hair can be sexy as well and it will not require you to be barely there either.

    4. Create it with Color – All black dress with a pop of red, wearing all red or maybe even wearing the royal color purple can showcase sexiness.blackjadore redredwhite

5.  Own YOUR style. when you confidently wear whatever your choose, sexiness can equate to it simply because you believe you are. Below are some modest fashionistas (1. Anam Shahid 2. Nadira Abdul Quddus) that have great style and can also be considered sexy.

Confidence = Success… Get Some!

Beyonce-and-Jay-Z-on-the-run

(article via LinkedIN)

CONFIDENCE = SUCCESS

5 Ways to Live Confidently NOW

“With confidence, you have won before you have started” ~Marcus Garvey

When you think about those people who are successful and you aspire to be like such as Oprah, Martha Stewart, Donald Trump, Farrah Gray, the late Steve Jobs, Bill Gates or even the power music couple Jay-Z and Beyonce’, what is the common character trait that all of these people posses? The answer…CONFIDENCE!

Each believe, and have a firm trust in not only their talent but also themselves. And because confidence is contagious, we as viewers believe in them simply because that person has a strong belief in themselves.

It’s been stated that the number one reason people never take the leap of faith to do those things they love in life and become who they are destined to be is because of the lack of confidence. You’ve always wanted to quit the corporate life and start your own company but you say you can’t because you don’t have the money to do so. Well, here’s the newsflash, having the lack of money is not the real issue. Having the lack of confidence is.

Many of those moguls listed above did not have the money to start their brands but they definitely possessed the confidence. I still remember Farrah Gray’s story shared on Oprah of how he started selling painted rocks at the age of six and became a young millionaire with other business ventures by age fourteen just because he knew he could. With the quote that began this article, the young Farrah Gray won before he began because of his confidence! It’s time for you to do the same.

Here are 5 ways to Live Confidently NOW.

1. Know who you are. When you know who you are, and are accepting of who you are, you become not easily broken when someone else challenges you to be something different. This I will admit doesn’t happen overnight but I will also admit, once you know who you are it becomes unshakeable. Do this by identifying your strengths and opportunities then learn how to celebrate your strengths in all that you do. If you don’t know what those things are, you can start by doing the simple exercise of listing out five things that you do really well along with the top five things you know and love about yourself.

2. Know the confidence desired, already lives inside of you. Reflect back on moments from early childhood. The times before you became self aware and was told you couldn’t do something… those times are the times you possessed more confidence than you do currently. I reflect back on the days I wanted to climb trees simply because the boys were doing it. Everyday I would climb the tree and everyday I would get higher and higher. When the boys told me I couldn’t do it, I climbed higher to make fun of them. But when my granny told me that was not lady-like, I began to question myself and became more self aware. Remember you already possess the confidence, you just need to re-ignite the fire inside to allow it to show through.

3. Kick fear and take the risk! That’s right…kick fear in the face and just jump. Take the risk now. You will not know the outcome until you actually do it. Assuming is just another way for fear to take control. Taking a risk involves not always feeling safe and that is okay.

4. Become comfortable, being uncomfortable. Embracing the unknown and accepting uncomfortable situations is a key to living confidently. It goes perfectly with #3. You have to accept that you cannot plan everything. You do not know the outcome of all situations and sometimes, you will be challenged and uncomfortable. This is all a part of life. So LIVE! You have to step out of the familiar,  predictability of your comfort zone. If you focus on the endpoint and not the process, you become more welcoming of being uncomfortable.

5. Begin and end with a Smile. It’s one of the most simple things in life to do that offers a very large return. Smiling tricks the brain in thinking you are happy and guess what… When you smile, you instantly become happy. It releases endorphins and reduce stress. And it’s the number one seller for any product or service you choose to sell and this includes selling yourself as a brand.

Step out, and live confidently NOW. None of us are guaranteed tomorrow so live boldly today.

Do it with Passion!

girl17

It’s amazing how much success follows the person that chooses to do it with passion… (of course I’m talking about sharing your talent with the world)

When studying why people like Oprah Winfrey, Steve Jobs, Michael Jordan, Michael Jackson and even Jessica Alba become successful million and even billionaires are largely due to them following their passions.

They chose to not only stand behind something that they were passionate about but also to master the craft! From tv to basketball, technology and creating more green products… they chose to be the best at it.

If you are looking on ways to allow your passion to turn into success, study those before you like Steve Jobs who didn’t give up on his dream because it was unsuccessful the initial release… he mastered the craft, re-introduced the product and success followed.

SO… here are some questions for your to consider:

What is your passion? How are you giving it to the world currently? and lastly, How can you give it on a grander scale?

Tuesday TEN – 10 ways CONFIDENCE will benefit you

question confidence10

With my 28 Days to Confidence FREE Workshop kicking off February 1st, I’m dedicating this Tuesday TEN to how confidence will benefit you and why it’s important to build up yours!

Confidence Banner

It’s been stated when you experience a lack of confidence, it may stop you from striving for what you want. But when you possess confidence, you abandon worry, hesitation and, more importantly, you side-step fear. The focus here is on your whole being, every part of you; your thoughts, the images in your mind, your emotions, and ultimately your behavior and the actual outcomes in your life.

Below are benefits of what Confidence will do for you!

1. Happiness! When you are confident with yourself and with the life you are living, troubles may come yes… but your happiness will still stand strong. It’s been stated confident people are happier than the average.

happy1

2. Greater Success = More Money! – yes it’s true… the more confident you are the more rewards you will reap professionally which includes making the top dollars. Dr. Maya Angelou was once interviewed and asked to share her one tip of confidence for women… this is what she said: “Well first, there are some things a woman must do for herself. Admit who you are and where you are and how you are to yourself. You don’t have to do that to anyone else. But admit who you are to yourself. Have enough courage. And say, [if it’s the case] ‘I am overweight. I am underweight. I’m not using my time intelligently. I’m not getting enough rest. I’m not having enough fun. I’m not reading enough. I’m not learning enough.’ And say it to yourself. Make notes to yourself so you can improve yourself. It’s very important. It’s important because then you give off an aura of competence and people are more reluctant to take advantage of you if you appear to be competent.” Read more HERE

3. Worry Less – Take a little lesson from the movie over a decade old…1994 hit Disney film Lion King... Hakuna Matata… It means no worries. A meerkat and warthog, a weird combination for friends confidently taught Simba to forget his troubled past and live proudly in the moment. What a great lesson in confidence. When you are more confident with who you are, you tend to worry less. You simply trust your decisions, live in the moment and accept whatever life hands you in the moment.

no worries1

4. Get heard! Confidence allows you to get yourself heard. You will speak more eloquently, a little more stern and confidently with whatever words chosen which demands attention to be paid regardless if the listeners agree or disagree with the points shared.

get-your-ideas-heard

5. Become more attractive and have great sex appeal – I remember in early 2000’s when Jermaine Dupri was dating Janet Jackson and so many people would say… “How did he get her?” These statements were made insinuating the difference in the physical look as Jermaine Dupri looked liked the average guy to many but the truth behind it is, confidence of a person will stand out way more than their looks or lack there of and Janet saw more in him than society did.

jjackson_jdupri

6. Networking with a breeze – Confidence will allow you to release the fear of meeting new people which is a benefit for both personal and professional. Personally because meeting new people can lead to great friendships and even an amazing love relationship that you’ve been waiting on. Professionally as if you network freely with no hesitation it could lead to promotions within your current company, opportunities for other companies seeking someone with your particular skill or even growth in clientele for your own business.

networking

7. So much freakin’ fun! With the benefits listed above it leads to more fun for the confident person. The less you worry, no longer care what people think of you, become more attractive, network and build more relationships, the more fun you will have. You become okay with laughing at yourself aloud and learn not to take things too seriously… oh how much fun your life will be!

fun1

8. Prioritize self-care. Confidence leads to you understanding what is needed for you and this will jumpstart true care for yourself. You understand this does not mean you are selfish but more caring of yourself even more so than you are for others. Whether its monthly massages, energy boosting yoga daily or knowing when and how to proudly say no to those things that may drain you… you will confidently prioritize self-care.

self-care

9. Increase your performance – The more confident you are, the more you will increase performance to going after your dreams. Whether an athlete, motivational speaker, promoter, actor or entrepreneur, truth is the more confident you are in yourself, the more you will work on perfecting your craft to becoming the best. Think Michael Jordan or Denzel Washington or Les Brown or Steve Jobs or Michael Jackson or Oprah… all individuals known for perfecting their craft to be the best in a particular craft.

craft

10. Kick fear in the face! Remember this TGIM video “Focus on what your purpose is and be determined to fulfill it”… well, confidence will allow you to take that quantum leap into the purpose you are supposed to be living. Regardless if you have enough money in the bank, regardless of the naysayers, regardless of what it may look like to others, you will face your fears head on, master them and keep it moving.

We Gotta Pray

With all that’s currently going on in the U.S. in reference to #MikeBrown and #EricGarner just to name two of the most recent cases, I’ve been praying more than ever for peace on this land. I’ve prayed for togetherness and for God to show Himself through it all.

pray

Last night Alicia Keys released a new song entitled “We Gotta Pray” and I must say, I greatly appreciate those who use their gift to impact the world in a positive light. I needed to share this video… I hope her message touch each of you as it did me. Spread the word and lets be the change we wish to see. We Gotta Pray!

Alicia Keys ~ Music with Meaning

The question… “Why are you here?”

AK1

Watching Alicia Keys video “We are Here” for the first time evoked such emotion. Every word sung is so true and I ask each of you… how much better the world would be if we were the change and evoked thought that moved to more love, more healing, more togetherness?

AK2

Alicia states how this was a question she had never been asked prior and it provoked thought which then lead to this amazing song.

Check out what Alicia wrote via FaceBook and share this amazing video!

“The day I wrote this song, I was sitting in a circle of people of all ages and we were asked, “Why are you here.” Why am I here?? This really hit me on a deep level. I realized no one had ever asked me that question before.
As I prepare to give birth to a new child, I can’t help and think about the world I’m bringing my baby into. No matter where we come from, when we see the state of the world today, we can all feel the growing frustration and desire to make a difference. And we all have a voice – we just need to know how to make it heard.
I have a vision that I believe is more than a dream, that I know can be our reality.
I believe in an empowered world community built on the true meaning of equality – where we are all considered one people, regardless of race, religion, gender, zip code, belief system or sexual orientation.
I believe all of our voices should be heard, so that our representation reflects our population. We need our leadership to reflect an equal balance of the gifts that both men and women have to offer.
I believe in a world where every child born receives a quality education – where their unique gifts are nurtured so that they may be a beneficial presence in this world.
I believe in mutual respect and cooperation among all peoples and all nations. It is time to end all forms of racial injustice for our black brothers and sisters and all people of color.
I believe in an end to the prison industrial complex in America and a renewed justice system that is based on fairness and truth.
I believe in universal global health care based on Integrative Medicine, so that our bodies are acknowledged and treated as one system, and we can help control the spread of diseases like AIDS, Malaria, TB and Ebola.
I believe we have an ability to end poverty, oppression, and hopelessness that often breeds despair, terror, and violence.
I believe in common sense gun laws that serve to protect children and families and society from unnecessary violence.
I believe in Peace & Love & Unity.
I believe that this vision can be a reality.
And, it’s not about me. It’s about WE.
Together we can give birth to a kinder and more peaceful world for ALL children.
Our souls were brought together so that we can love each other sister, brother. We Are Here. We are here for all of us. That’s why #WeAreHere.
Sent with Light,
Alicia Keys”

Tuesday TEN ~ Remembering Aaliyah

In remembrance of Aaliyah 13 years after her death in the fatal plane crash… this post is dedicated to her. While in high school, Aaliyah was one of my favorites. From her catchy lyrics to admirable dance moves… Aaliyah could do no wrong.

bahamas-plane-crash-aaliyah

Aaliyah Dana Haughton would have been 35 this year. Passing way too soon at age 22, Aaliyah was at the prime of her career. This beauty was signed at young age of 12. After partnership and writing with lead songwriter and producer, R.Kelly on her debut album Age Ain’t Nothing but a Number , Aaliyah became known for her singing talents which sold 3 million of first album and even more on sophomore album One in a Million where she partnered with Timbaland and Missy Elliottt.

Per listing of “Billboard, Aaliyah is named as the tenth most successful female R&B artist of the past 25 years and 27th most successful R&B artist in history.”

SOME of my favorite looks, videos and moments from Aaliyah are:

And she understands the responsibility she has within her grasp to take these opportunities and just take off with them. She serves as a role model and an inspiration to so many young people. And I am happy to call her my friend. I am so proud of her.”

Throwback Thursday Tribute

I’ve been speaking a lot on the importance of sisterhood and female empowerment. When I reflect back I loved seeing strong females come together to create something powerful and impacting.

This Throwback Thursday Tribute edition is dedicated to some of my favorite and fashionable girl groups of all time.

TLC-Creep

To kick things off I have to list my most favorite girl group ever! I said it before and I’ll say it again I absolutely LOVE the CrazySexyCool ladies of TLC! In school I wanted to dress like them, have swag like them and be as bold as them. They were the epitome of empowerment to me.

85363071-tlc-1-blog

Not one of the ladies stood out more than the other to me. I thought that each possessed a quality to we all desired to have. They were completely comfortable with who they were and owned their style! When record labels were selling sex they kept it loose and became playful with the message of safe sex through pinning condoms on their boyish styles.

LaBelle02

Patti LaBelle and the Bluebelles were not only a rocking phenomenon they were also the girls group that initiated the wild and crazy fashion! Way before Gaga, these ladies dressed like space invaders and tin men. Known for the iconic and sexually suggestive song Lady Marmalade, this group was in a league of their own.

600full-diana-ross-&-the-supremes

Diana Ross and the Supremes were sophisticated glam. This group empowered femininity and did it gracefully.

swv_thelavalizard

Who could forget the nails of member Coco from the group SWV?? I so did NOT like them but loved the sisters with voices!! I also appreciate her being bold enough to own her trend no matter what people thought of them. I still jam the mega hit “Weak”. Do you?

First Annual Soul Train Lady of Soul Awards

Backwards styled overalls, beepers and banging vocals… XSCAPE was one of my favorite 90’s girl groups. I will never forget a friend and I creating a dance to “Just Kickin’ it” Haha! They had such a hardcore image with vocals that were completely opposite you couldn’t help being drawn in.

En Vogue was another group I adored. They were sexy, strong, and fashion icons. Although I have many songs I love from this group one of my favorites was with the collaboration of another one of my favorite groups Salt N Pepa! The entire video for “Whatta Man” is fantastic! Both groups gave female empowerment with songs like “Free your Mind” and “None of your Business”.

tumblr_mvvr2lPftZ1smmoyuo7_400

2011-topic-pages-music-salt-n-pepa

These are also the only two groups I know that still tour today, look fabulous while doing so and still get along with each other:)

Lastly, I could not leave this throwback tribute without mentioning Destiny’s Child. These girls were always fashion forward and even sung songs written by some of the icons listed above like Kandi Burruss of Xscape! She wrote many hits for this group in the beginning such as Bills-Bills-Bills. From beginning to now, I grew up witnessing the rise. And being from Port Arthur, TX… I had much love from this Houston born group.

Eartha Kitt – Singer, Actress, Dancer, and Cabaret Star

home_06

Even as a child, I found a way to survive.” – Eartha Kitt

One of my favorite quotes from the legendary Eartha Kitt. Seeing her survive and thrive from her troubled upbringing gave me inspiration that I too can become something great… no matter where you’ve come from.

Eartha became known for her distinctive voice and was once called “the most exciting woman in the world” by Orson Welles. Her hit “Santa Baby” is something we still listen to now during the holidays.

eartha-kitt-catwoman

She personified sex as the legendary Catwoman during the third and final season of  the 1960s Batman television series.

Eartha had many career peaks and won multiple awards for her performances on film, television and stage work. This enticing lady also received the Hollywood Star in 1960.

Eartha Kitt was also known for her activism. “She established the Kittsville Youth Foundation, a chartered and non-profit organization for underprivileged youth in the Watts area of Los Angeles.” Read more HERE.

One of my favorite modern day roles of Eartha Kitt was in the movie Boomerang from 1992 as Lady Eloise. Too funny!!

I love this woman! She’s sexy, smart, extremely talented and unique. Her legacy will continue to live on.

Monday Mixtape

Introducing Monday Mixtape!

Sharing songs that motivate you to move! An eclectic mix to help you as you move through your journey.

I am a lover of powerful uplifting music, and I found it can alter your mood in such a positive way. I decided I will share my Monday Mixtape each Monday in hopes of starting your week off strong to move through whatever is to come your way.

Dance like there is no one watching:-)

Please note these songs shared are in no particular order.

1. My get it moving in the morning jam… Let me clear my throat! – DJ Kool

No matter how long it’s been, when I hear this song I instantly start to move! It’s a classic that will always make me feel good.

2. Don’t Stop Believing – Journey

I love this song and it pushes me to continue to believe.

3. Welcome to the Good Life! – Kanye West ft. T-Pain

I go for mine… I got to shine 🙂

4. Push it – Salt-N-Pepa

“Salt-N-Pepa’s here and we’re in effect want you to push it good. Coolin’ by day then at night… working up a sweat!” LOL! I still know all the words. And here is another confession… I listen to the Salt-N-Pepa Pandora station faithfully during my drive to work. It gets me ready.

5. Don’t Stop ’til you get enough – THE ONE AND ONLY MJ

Now I will admit, Michael Jackson has many songs that will get you to move… this is just one of many I enjoy! He was so the man I wanted to marry when I was younger. I remember when the Michael Jackson experience came out I was so proud to beat my nieces and nephew on that game. I knew all the moves.

6. Countdown – Beyonce’

Just like MJ, Bey has MANY move your butt songs! I have a devoted workout playlist to my girl Beyonce’ in keeping with the theme to only post one on this list I went with Countdown. Favorite line: “Me and my boo, in my boo coup ridin’ all up in the black with his chick right beside him…”

7. Last Dance – Donna Sommer

Starts off smooth but then… 🙂

8. I’m coming out – Diana Ross

My ultimate theme song! HA! It debut the year I was born so it kind of makes sense.

9. Brave – Sara Bareilles

Such an uplifting song that I’ve played in my TGIM -Kisha’s Life Lessons on occasion. I LOVE THE WORDS SO MUCH! I swear every time I hear this song and I begin to dance like I’m Beyonce’, I shed tears of joy… every time!

10. Just Fine – MJB

This has such a great beat and “I wouldn’t change my life because my life is just fine” lyrics speak exactly to how I feel at this very moment.

What are your Monday Motivational songs that gets you moving??

Let’s dance… the last dance… Celebrating the lovely iconic Donna Summer

The 5 time Grammy Award Winning Disco Queen has sold more than 150 million records world wide! Known for a multitude of hits and gorgeous legs, Donna Summer regularly appeared at Studio 54 nightclub in NYC and reached the status of “one of the world’s leading female singers.”

The first to create a 17 minute dance remix of a very seductive and sexy tones of “Love to Love You Baby”. Most radio stations did not know if they could even play this on the radio station but it became an instant success and demand in many clubs.

It amazes me how so many of us are uneducated and think a lot of Beyonce’, Rihana and even Gaga are originators when a lot of inspirations come from queens such as this one: Donna Summer!

Don’t get me wrong, I love B, bad girl RiRi and Gaga but just want to give credit where credit is due:-) When you listen to this… I’m sure you’ll notice some sounds that have been added to some our our today pop stars.

Subtle sexy…

...

Although this iconic beauty passed at tender age of 63 after fight with lung cancer, her legacy will live on forever. From songs that make you move, sultry sounds and sexy style, The Disco Queen and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee is someone to never be forgotten.

KLL 23

Give it all you have…and give it your best!!

120 days remaining in 2013… When it’s over will you say “I’ve lived?”

Listening to the song by One Republic – I Lived really opens me you to many thoughts. I cried, smiled and danced to this beautiful melody… so happy a friend chose to share this song with me. I hope it inspires you to live and live boldly.

Remember… YOU WERE BORN EXCEPTIONAL! Life is meant to be lived… don’t waste it existing.

“…with every broken bone, I swear I’ve lived.” (one of my favorite lyrics to I’ve Lived)

Lots of love

Ten reasons why I love me some Janelle Monae!

Janelle Monae1    Janelle Monae3

The “easy breezy beautiful…Cover GirlJanelle Monae is a Grammy nominated artist that is currently signed to Wondaland Arts Society and Bad Boy/Atlantic Records. She’s known for her alternative and contemporary R&B style along with a taste of Neo-Soul. It’s an eclectic mix. Her inspirations actually are heavily influenced by Nona Hendryx’s blend of funk and rock. This Chic CHICK has a numerous amount of talent and below are the TEN reasons I love Janelle Monae.

1. She Maintains strong femininity while rocking menswear tailored styled suits

2. Her Song and video below Q.U.E.E.N is AMAZING!!!! “While you keep selling dope we gonna keep selling hope!” Simple yet brilliant lyrics! another line I love… “Even if it makes others uncomfortable, I will love who I am!”

3. Because I can’t get her lyrics out my head!!! “She who writes the movie owns the script and the sequel. So why ain’t the stealing of my rights made illegal?” You better preach Electric Lady!!

5. She's the perfect beauty edition to ConverGirl
4. She’s the perfect beauty edition to ConverGirl

5. Her dance moves are filled with energy. She’s not only mastered the infamous James Brown footwork, in my opinion she does it even better than the legend himself. See for yourself below:

6. Although her signature look involves black and white tailored suits with red lips... She looks even more stunning in variety of colors

9. The footwork spoke about in #5 is evident and even more relevant in #9. Her 2010 hit Tightrope still will ignite your mood and make you want to dance!

10. Her new album The Electric Lady comes out September 10th and I’ve already pre-ordered it!
